Dehradun: Amidst the ever-increasing demand for electricity in Uttarakhand, great news has come out for the state. In fact, the state government was making efforts at the Centre for the Sirkari Bhayol Rupasiyabagh Hydroelectric Project for a long time, which has been successful. The Forest Advisory Committee of the Union Ministry of Forest, Environment and Climate Change (MOEF) has given in-principle approval on the proposal to transfer forest land for the project.
A big gift has been received from the Centre regarding the hydroelectric project in Uttarakhand. In fact, the government has taken the first step on the 120 MW capacity hydroelectric project in the state. Under this, the Forest Advisory Committee of the Union Ministry of Forest, Environment and Climate Change has given in-principle approval to this project.
The proposal to transfer 29.997 hectares of forest land for the implementation of the project was considered by the Forest Advisory Committee. For which in-principle approval was given. This project was designed by increasing sensitivity in terms of environment. Under the project, efforts were also made to construct about 1 kilometer of tunnel and keep most of the structures underground.
The special thing is that no protected area or eco-sensitive zone is coming in this project area. The bigger thing is that due to the project, one often has to go through a complex process of displacement. But there will be no displacement of any kind in this.
This hydropower project will be able to generate an estimated 529 million units of electricity every year. Due to which the demand for electricity of the state will also be met. The demand for electricity is continuously increasing in Uttarakhand. In such a situation, there is a great need for such projects.
After getting the approval of this project, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has also expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister. Earlier, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Forest and Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav and requested for the approval of this project. After this, now the state has got great hope with the project getting the green signal. This project is proposed on the Gori Ganga river in Pithoragarh district and now work on the further process for its implementation can begin.
