Dehradun: To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the imposition of Emergency, a state level dialogue program will be organized at the Chief Minister’s residence on Wednesday, June 25. In this program, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami will honor the democracy fighters of the state who were detained in MISA and DIR during the Emergency and the wife or husband of the late democracy fighters, as well as share the experiences of the Emergency period. On this occasion, along with organizing programs with extensive public participation in all the districts of the state, exhibitions will also be organized about the Emergency at fifty places.
Emergency was imposed in the country from 25 June 1975 to 21 March 1977. Taking several important decisions in a meeting chaired by Additional Home Secretary Nivedit Kukreti to organize various programs in the state on the 50th anniversary of imposition of Emergency as per the instructions of Government of India, various departments and District Magistrates have been assigned the responsibility of organizing the programs. It was decided in the meeting that in the dialogue program organized at the Chief Minister’s residence on June 25, the state’s democracy fighters who were detained under MISA and DIR during the Emergency and the wife or husband of the deceased democracy fighters will be respectfully invited through the respective District Magistrates.
