Haridwar/Dehradun: An interstate meeting was held today at the Mela Control Bhawan in Haridwar regarding Kanwar Mela 2025. Officials from five states including Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab participated in this meeting. The meeting was chaired by Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Anand Vardhan. After the meeting, Chief Secretary Anand Vardhan said that in today’s meeting, necessary discussions were held between the officials of the neighboring states to ensure the safe and secure conduct of the Kanwar fair. He has appealed to the Kanwariyas not to bring items like hockey, baseball bat. Along with this, guidelines have also been given regarding DJ and large size of Kanwar.
Uttarakhand DGP Deepam Seth said that after the attack in Pahalgam, all the agencies have been alerted for the security of the Kanwar fair. Today, discussions have been held at the micro level with other states regarding route diversion and registration of Kanwariyas. In which it has been decided on which days and where the route diversion will be done. Uttarakhand DGP said that this time along with the registration of Kanwariyas, there has also been a discussion on writing the names of shopkeepers in the Kanwar fair. He said that this time also the system will be the same as last year.
Notices sent to 50 DJ operators: Before the Kanwar fair, Uttarakhand Police has served notices to 50 big DJ operators. Police has said that this time DJ will be played in Kanwar fair as per the set standards. Along with this, Uttarakhand Police has demanded 20 paramilitary companies from the centre for security. More than 3500 policemen will handle the security arrangements of Kanwar fair. 5 bomb squads and dog squads have been demanded from the central government.
