Dehradun: The 20th National Ice Skating Championship has started today at the Himadri Ice Rink of Maharana Pratap Sports College. Teams from 19 states are participating in this championship. 58 hits competitions were held on the first day of the National Ice Skating Championship today.
A new dimension has been added to the sports achievements of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand on Friday. The country’s first indoor ice skating national championship has started here. On Friday, Sports Minister Rekha Arya inaugurated the 20th National Short Track and Figure Skating Championship 2025 at the Himadri Ice Rink of Maharana Pratap Sports Stadium. The competition will conclude on June 30.
On this occasion, Sports Minister Rekha Arya said that till now all the national championships of ice skating in the country were held in open hilly grounds during the snowfall season. For the first time, the National Championship of Ice Skating is being organized in the Indoor Stadium. The Sports Minister said that this is another big step towards making Devbhoomi Uttarakhand a sports land.
Sports Minister Rekha Arya said that our ice rink is open for practice and training of players from all over the country. We want that by taking advantage of this sports infrastructure, Indian players make the country proud in ice games around the world.
On this occasion, ice skating players demonstrated beautiful skills. The balance, speed and movements of the players were excellent. Ice skaters from 19 states performed a grand parade. A total of 58 hits are being organized for male and female players of junior and senior categories in the championship.
