Chief Secretary reviewed Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited, CS sought action plan to set target for financial year 2025-26 in next meeting

Dehradun: Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan reviewed Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited at the Secretariat on Monday. The Chief Secretary has directed the officials to present an action plan setting target for the financial year 2025-26 in the next board meeting of UPCL.

The Chief Secretary also directed UPCL to present an action plan for the next 3 to 5 years. He said that the latest technology and artificial intelligence should be used in various types of works of the corporation. This will increase efficiency and various types of losses can be reduced.

The Chief Secretary also directed to continuously reduce the response time of replacing damaged transformers. He said that immediate action should be taken on complaints of broken or crooked electric poles as well as hanging wires on CM Helpline and 1905. He said that the tilted electric poles and hanging wires across the state should be repaired by conducting an immediate survey on mission mode.

The Chief Secretary said that there is a need to reduce the operation and maintenance expenditure. For this, analysis should be done by third party analysts. He also talked about continuous improvement work to reduce distribution losses by the corporation. He also emphasized on continuously reducing Aggregate Technical and Commercial Losses (AT&C).

The Chief Secretary also talked about paying attention to other options including battery storage for electricity. He said that along with three phase HTCT and three phase LTCT connections, the work should be completed in the stipulated time by expediting the conversion of feeder and DT meters into smart meters.

MD UPCL Anil Kumar said that in the commercial performance of the last three years, the input energy of Uttarakhand has increased. Also, distribution loss is continuously decreasing. With the increase in billing efficiency, bill collection has improved. He said that despite the mountainous and difficult geographical conditions, the Aggregate Technical and Commercial Losses (AT&C) of Uttarakhand is better than the national average and only Punjab, Haryana and Himachal are better than Uttarakhand. On this occasion, Principal Secretary R. Meenakshi Sundaram and other senior officials of UPCL were present.
