Dehradun: A proposal has been approved in the cabinet meeting held on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. Actually, the MSP of silk cocoon is fixed every year. In this sequence, this year also the Silk Department had prepared a proposal for the new MSP of cocoon, which has been approved by the Cabinet. The MSP fixed for cocoon last year has been increased this year. Under which the price of high quality cocoon has been increased from Rs 400 per kg to Rs 440 per kg.
MSP of cocoon fixed in Silk Department
- The price of A grade cocoon has been increased from Rs 400 to Rs 440 per kg.
- The price of B grade cocoon has been increased from Rs 370 to Rs 395 per kg.
- The price of C grade cocoon was increased from 280 to 290 rupees per kg.
- The price of D grade cocoon was increased from 230 to 240 rupees per kg.
Agriculture Minister Ganesh Joshi said that only one proposal has been approved in the cabinet meeting. In which new MSP of silk cocoon has been fixed under the Agriculture Department. However, MSP of cocoon is fixed every year, in which new rates of cocoon have been fixed this year as well. This year the rates of cocoon have been increased as compared to last year. This will help in increasing the production of silk in the state. At present, cocoons are being produced mainly in two districts of the state, Dehradun and Bageshwar. But with this encouragement of the government, the production of cocoons will increase in the coming time.
Minister Joshi said that the quality of silk is much better. Because the demand for silk sarees made from Uttarakhand cocoons has not only increased in the state, but are also being liked a lot in other states. Because expos are organized at many places, in which silk sarees of Uttarakhand are also exhibited. Due to which the turnover is increasing. The government is working to make cocoon seeds available to farmers on time. But till now there has been no complaint that cocoon seeds are not being made available to farmers on time.
