The 124th meeting of the Board of Directors was held in the Energy Bhawan of UPCL in Dehradun under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary

Dehradun: The Chief Secretary directed the Energy Department to complete all the projects related to power generation, transmission and distribution on time and implement all the works in a better way to provide reliable and affordable electricity to the consumers.

He said that a technical member should be appointed in the Board of Directors for better clarification and study of technical points related to various projects. He also directed to present the tariff order passed by UERC (Uttarakhand Electricity Regulatory Commission) in the meeting of the Board of Directors. Asked to share information about the increased authorization capital of the companies with the government. Also gave instructions to completely stabilize ERP (enterprise resource plan) by September 2025.

The Chief Secretary said that such border villages of border districts which are still covered with solar power should also be covered with grid based power supply.

Approval by the Board of Directors to install capacitor banks in transformers

To improve the quality of voltage, more than 76 thousand capacitor banks are to be installed in transformers across the state, which was approved by the Board of Directors.

Consent to install BESS (Battery Energy Storage System)

Uttarakhand Power Corporation is going to install a 100 MW battery energy storage system, which was approved by the Board of Directors. This project will help in promoting the integration of renewable energy in Uttarakhand.

The Chief Secretary directed that a decision should be taken only after assessing competitive interest rates from various financial institutions so that the funds related to the project can be available at affordable interest rates. Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited while sharing its achievements said that the corporation’s revenue collection has increased continuously for the last 3 years. There has been improvement in the electricity consumer ranking and AT & C (Aggregate Technical and Commercial Losses) has decreased in the last 3 years.

During this meeting, Principal Secretary R Meenakshi Sundaram, Secretary Finance Dilip Jawalkar, Mr. BP Pandey and Mr. Parag Gupta from the Independent Board of Directors, Managing Director UPCL Anil Kumar, Pitkul PC Dhyani and UJVNL Sandeep Singhal were present.
