UP: 22 Senior PCS Officers Promoted to IAS Cadre, Appointment Orders Issued

Lucknow: In a major administrative development, 22 officers of the Provincial Civil Services (PCS) in Uttar Pradesh have been promoted to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) cadre. The Department of Appointments, Government of Uttar Pradesh, has officially issued orders following the notification from the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Government of India, dated July 9, 2025.

The officers promoted under the State Civil Services quota are all of senior PCS rank, with three women officers among them. Most of the officers belong to the pre-1983 recruitment batch, and their IAS batch allotment will be done shortly.

Officers Directed to Take Charge Immediately

According to the order issued by Special Secretary Vijay Kumar, the newly promoted officers have been asked to assume charge in the senior pay scale of the Indian Administrative Service immediately. They must also submit a certificate of release from the PCS pay scale, duly countersigned and forwarded to the state government.

Significance of the Move

This large-scale promotion is seen as part of the Yogi Adityanath-led government’s focus on career progression and rewarding senior provincial officers. The promotions fill the vacancies in the IAS cadre under the State Quota, in line with service rules and DoPT guidelines.
