Haridwar Mansa Devi accident, stampede due to rumor of electric shock, devotees fell on each other on the stairs

Haridwar: Sunday became a famine for the devotees of Maa Mansa Devi in Haridwar. There was a stampede in the Mansa Devi temple at around 8:50 in the morning. Hundreds of devotees were present at the spot at the time of the incident. So far 6 people have been confirmed dead in the tragic accident. While many people are injured. The injured have been admitted to Haridwar District Hospital. Haridwar DM Mayur Dixit and SSP Pramod Dobal are taking stock of the injured in the hospital.

On Sunday, July 27, a huge crowd gathered at the famous Shaktipeeth Maa Mansa Devi temple in Haridwar. Due to Saturday and Sunday being weekends, a huge crowd of devotees from other states also gathered in the temple. On the other hand, even after the Kanwar fair was over, many Kanwariyas had reached the temple to have darshan of the goddess. It is being told that due to the increase in the crowd on the main staircase of the temple, a stampede situation arose among the devotees. Devotees fell on each other on the staircase.

Stampede on the stairs: On the whole matter, SSP Pramod Dobal said that at around 9 am, the police control room received information that there was a stampede on the staircase walkway 100 meters below the temple. SDRF and police force reached the spot and all the injured people along with the local people were rescued and brought to the hospital.

Stampede due to rumor of electric current: SSP Dobal said that the information of electric current on the road created a stampede of people. A total of 35 injured were brought to the hospital. Out of which 6 have died, all others are injured.

Death of 6 people confirmed: At the same time, Garhwal Commissioner Ravi Shankar Pandey has confirmed the death of 6 people so far. While many are injured. All the injured have been admitted to the district hospital for treatment. He said that the reasons are being investigated. The temple premises have been closed for some time. SDRF and police force are present on the spot. The rescue operation has been completed.

At the same time, CM Dhami has expressed grief over the accident. He posted on Twitter and wrote, “Very sad news has been received about the stampede on the Mansa Devi temple road in Haridwar. SDRF, local police and other rescue teams have reached the spot and are engaged in relief and rescue operations. I am constantly in touch with the local administration in this regard and the situation is being constantly monitored. I pray to Mata Rani for the safety of all the devotees.
