Center sought consent to start work on Tanakpur-Bageshwar rail line project, Dhami said – Rail network is getting stronger in the state with the cooperation of the Center

Dehradun: Work on Tanakpur – Bageshwar rail line may start soon. The central government has asked the state government to formally give consent to start work on this project. The state government is going to send an official letter to the central government in this direction soon.

The proposed Tanakpur-Bageshwar rail line is being seen as a game changer project in the direction of rail network expansion in Kumaon region. The final survey work for this project of about 170 km has been completed. Now in the next phase, the project is to be discussed with the state government. Before starting the work, the central government has asked the state to provide formal consent. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed the Chief Secretary to take action by completing the formalities in this direction soon. In this way, the way is being cleared for the Tanakpur – Bageshwar rail line to come to the ground. Karnaprayag rail line will be ready by 2026

Work is being done rapidly on developing the rail network in the hilly districts of Uttarakhand. In this sequence, work is going on at a war footing on the Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail line, the work of this project of strategic importance is expected to be completed by 2026. Similarly, after the construction of Tanakpur-Bageshwar rail line, rail connectivity can be established between Garhwal-Kumaon by connecting two mountain cities like Karnaprayag-Bageshwar to the rail network. Also, on the request of the state government, the central government is also preparing the DPR of Rishikesh-Uttarkashi and Dehradun-Saharanpur railway lines. The 81 km long Dehradun-Saharanpur will pass through the route of Shakumbhari Devi temple. This railway line will be laid from Saharanpur to Harrawala railway station in Dehradun. It also includes an 11 km long tunnel. All the formalities are being completed expeditiously to start work on the Bageshwar – Tanakpur rail line. Similarly, the final DPR of Rishikesh – Uttarkashi and Dehradun – Saharanpur railway lines is also being prepared. The central government is providing full support in strengthening the rail network in Uttarakhand.
