Dehradun/Pauri: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the resolution of the state government for self-reliant Uttarakhand is now seen blooming on the ground. Women of Kot block of Pauri Garhwal district are writing a new story of self-reliance and women empowerment by cultivating lily flowers. The fragrance of these flowers is now filling the smell of hope and prosperity not only in the fields but also in the lives of women.
With the joint efforts of the Horticulture Department, Gramothan Project and NHLM, 22 poly houses have been built in Kot block. In the first phase, women groups have planted Oriental and Dancing Star variety bulbs imported from Holland in eight poly houses.
The government is guaranteeing women 50 percent grant from the district plan, support at every level from production to marketing and providing market. The price of A-grade Lily has been fixed at Rs 80, B-grade at Rs 70 and C-grade at Rs 60. With this, the women here are moving forward with the target of earning up to Rs 10 lakh per year.

This initiative is not only strengthening the economic condition of women, but is also giving a new direction to the vision of women empowerment, innovation based farming and self-reliant Uttarakhand of the state government.
