Mussoorie: On September 2, 31 years ago, police opened fire on state agitators protesting for a separate hill state separated from Uttar Pradesh. Many state agitators were killed by police bullets. To remember this sacrifice, tribute is paid every year at Mussoorie Shaheed Sthal. This time the program was not limited to only tribute. It also became a platform for political allegations and counter-allegations and sharp slogans. On this occasion, CM Dhami also made a big announcement.
CM Dhami’s announcements: On this occasion, while CM Dhami paid tribute to the agitators, keeping in mind the development and social concerns of Mussoorie, he announced to change the name of Mall Road to Aandolankari Mall Road. The Chief Minister said that this road is not just a road, but a silent witness to the movement that gave birth to the state of Uttarakhand.
Families of martyred agitators honored: Chief Minister Dhami paid homage to martyrs Balbir Singh Negi, Belmati Chauhan, Hansa Dhanai, Dhanpat Singh, Rai Singh Bangari and Madan Mohan Mamgai at the Martyrs Memorial in Mussoorie and honored their families.
He described 2 September 1994 as a black day in the history of Uttarakhand, when police bullets were fired on unarmed agitators. The Chief Minister reiterated that his government will never forget the sacrifice of Uttarakhand agitators. Referring to the various steps like reservation, pension, free education and anti-copying law implemented in the state, he said that his aim is to make Uttarakhand an empowered, transparent and culturally rich state.
The government will celebrate the birth centenary of Indramani Badoni in a grand manner: He said that the birth centenary of late Indramani Badoni, the leading leader of the Uttarakhand movement, will be celebrated on a grand scale, so that the new generation can be connected with his ideas.
Announcing the beautification of Garhwal Sabha Bhawan located in Mussoorie, the Chief Minister said that the building will be made a center of culture, history and heritage. This building will become a living symbol of the spirit of the movement, the dialect of the mountain and the culture. The Chief Minister said that the government is working fast towards the rehabilitation of 84 families who have been homeless for years in Shifan Court, Mussoorie. These families will soon be provided permanent housing.
Chief Minister Dhami made a big announcement in the interest of the local street traders of Mussoorie and said that vendor zones will be created for them. This will give them permanent place, respectable livelihood and security. The Chief Minister said that these traders are also the soul of our city. We have to protect and empower their employment.
