Dehradun: In the meeting of the Executive Committee of Uttarakhand Investment and Infrastructure Development Board (UIIDB) chaired by Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan, emphasis was laid on promptly conducting the work related to planning and implementation of projects related to infrastructure development in the state. In the meeting, it was decided to strengthen the organizational structure of UIIDB and discuss in detail about decentralization of powers at various levels and place the proposals related to it in the next meeting of the Board.
The 8th meeting of the Executive Committee of UIIDB was held in the Chief Secretary Auditorium at the Secretariat. While chairing the meeting, Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan reviewed the works of UIIDB in detail and directed to pay special attention to the works of Sharda Corridor, Rishikesh Corridor and Haridwar Corridor projects. The Chief Secretary said that under the Triveni Ghat project in Rishikesh, continuous availability of Ganga water should be ensured at the ghat. For this, hydrological study should be done and necessary measures suggested by experts should be implemented. While reviewing the proposals of the project of construction of green park and heritage forest walk-way along with underground parking arrangement on the land of the old railway station in Rishikesh, the Chief Secretary said that the feasibility of maintenance and operation of this project should be properly assessed. The Chief Secretary said that in view of the possibilities of expansion of Rapid Rail Transport System from Haridwar to Rishikesh and construction of railway line between Rishikesh and Dehradun, provisions should also be included to develop necessary infrastructure facilities keeping in mind the future requirements at the railway station and its adjacent areas in Rishikesh. In view of the heavy pressure of crowd and traffic inside the city of Rishikesh, the Chief Secretary directed to prepare a proposal in consultation with all the concerned stakeholders including Divisional Commissioner, Police, District Administration, Tourism, Transport, Joint Rotation Arrangement Committee, regarding relocation of ISBT and Chardham Yatra Registration Centre to a suitable place.
While reviewing the projects of Haridwar Corridor, the Chief Secretary said that in view of the upcoming Kumbh Mela, the approved works of this project should be completed in a timely manner. The Chief Secretary instructed to arrange a suitable place near the Mela Control Room for setting up an Integrated Command and Control Centre equipped with high-tech and modern facilities for security, traffic and crowd management in Haridwar, as well as to include the suggestions of Mela Adhikari, District Magistrate, Superintendent of Police in the proposals of this project. While giving instructions for timely implementation of schemes related to expansion of ghats, parking, ropeway, construction of footpaths and transport, public broadcasting system, various types of civic amenities in Haridwar, the Chief Secretary said that the ambitious plans of construction of cultural center and multi-model tourism at Chandi Ghat should also be implemented at a fast pace. The Chief Secretary also directed to prepare appropriate proposals for the redevelopment of Yamuna Colony in Dehradun, the plan for development of new Greenfield cities and other schemes proposed by UIDB.
On this occasion, Principal Secretary R.K. Sudhanshu, R. Meenakshi Sundaram, Secretary Shailesh Bagauli, Dr. V. Shanmugam, Jugal Kishore Pant, CCF Dr. Parag Madhukar Dhakate, Resident Commissioner Ajay Mishra, District Magistrate Haridwar Mayur Dixit and Mela Adhikari Mrs. Sonika, Additional Secretary Abhishek Ruhela and other senior officers were present.
