Disaster-affected people of Dharali became emotional after meeting the Prime Minister, narrated the painful story of devastation

Dehradun: Disaster-affected villagers of Dharali village became very emotional when they met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the State Guest House of Jolly Grant Airport during his visit to Uttarakhand. These people, who had lost everything in the dreadful disaster of 5 August, shared their pain with the Prime Minister.

Kameshwari Devi, who had come to meet the PM, was so broken by the pain of losing her young son that she could not say anything. Tears were continuously flowing from her eyes and she could only say that this disaster took away everything from us. Not only the family lost their employment, but my elder son Akash also went away.

Those who met the Prime Minister from Dharali included Gram Pradhan Ajay Negi, BDC representative Sushil Panwar, Mahila Mangal Dal President Sunita Devi, and Kameshwari Devi. All of them narrated the scene of devastation of 5 August with moist eyes and choked voice.

Everything was razed to the ground in a moment

Pradhan Ajay Negi lost many of his companions including his cousin in this disaster, while Sushil Panwar lost his younger brother and his entire family. Mahila Mangal Dal President Sunita Devi’s lifelong earnings, her house, homestay and garden, everything was razed to the ground in a moment. Among the missing people in the disaster, only the body of Kameshwari Devi’s son Akash has been found so far.

Gram Pradhan Ajay Negi told the media that he submitted a detailed report of every devastation in the village to Prime Minister Modi. He demanded from the Prime Minister to rehabilitate Dharali, give employment to the people again and waive agricultural loans. Pradhan told that PM Modi has assured him that the central and state governments are working together for the rehabilitation and employment of the disaster affected. He also said that every disaster affected person will be given every possible help. This meeting shows that this disaster has not only caused damage to property, but has also left a deep wound on the hearts of the people.
