NDMA department head did a detailed review of the damage caused by the disaster in Uttarakhand, gave instructions to speed up relief work

Dehradun: A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Uttarakhand, on Friday, NDMA (National Disaster Management Authority) member and department head Rajendra Singh held an important meeting in USDMA (Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority) control room Dehradun. A detailed review of the damage caused by the disaster in Uttarakhand was done in the meeting. Let us tell you that rain wreaked havoc in August. Many major disasters occurred in Uttarakhand due to this rain. While Dharali market in Uttarkashi was buried under a pile of debris, Tharali in Chamoli also suffered a lot due to rain. Apart from this, everything was destroyed due to rain in Rudraprayag and Pauri Garhwal districts. Information about all these disasters and the damage caused by them was given to PM Modi during a meeting in Dehradun on Thursday. Uttarakhand Disaster Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman said that yesterday on Thursday, September 11, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Uttarakhand in view of the disaster. During this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also met the disaster victims. Apart from this, PM Modi also met the soldiers of SDRF, NDRF and Indian Army, who are engaged in relief and rescue operations. Also took the ground report of Uttarakhand disaster from them.

According to Disaster Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman, PM Modi has given a package of Rs 1200 crore to Uttarakhand as immediate relief amount. Along with this, PM Modi has also assured CM Dhami of all possible help.

The Disaster Secretary says that after the instructions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, this work is being done so that the relief amount reaches the victims with immediate effect. Earlier it used to take a lot of time. Now relief amount is being given within 24 hours. Also, after the disaster, relief and rescue work is being done as soon as possible with immediate effect.

He told that at present, an immediate help of 1200 crores has been given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and after the report of Post Disaster Need Assessment i.e. PDNA, the damage caused in the disaster will be reviewed in detail. Every loss will be measured on the spot and after that a detailed DPR will be prepared regarding the damage and loss. After this, whatever budget the state will need, it will be received from the center.

Let us tell you that after the monsoon season which started on 15 June this year, a huge amount of damage has been caused due to heavy rains across the state. In this entire season, 15535 km of roads have been damaged so far, which are being continuously repaired. In this, only the budget of 457 crores of the Public Works Department will be spent.

At the same time, more than 3500 houses have been destroyed so far in this monsoon season. At the same time, a number of human beings as well as cattle have also lost their lives, which the Disaster Management Department is now continuously assessing and a detailed assessment will be done under PDNA i.e. Post Disaster Need and Assessment. This report will also be sent to the Centre.
