Cheating mafia Hakam Singh arrested before UKSSSC exam; he had demanded ₹15 lakh each from 6 candidates.

Dehradun: Just a day before the UKSSSC graduate-level exam, Uttarakhand Police has taken major action. In a joint operation by the Uttarakhand Special Task Force (STF) and Dehradun Police, Hakam Singh Rawat, the kingpin of the cheating gang, and one of his associates have been arrested. Police Headquarters spokesperson and IG Nilesh Anand Bharne provided this information.

15 lakh rupees demanded from candidates: Inspector General of Police Nilesh Anand Bharne stated that information about the gang’s activity had been received since morning. The gang leader was demanding 15 lakh rupees each from six candidates to facilitate cheating in the upcoming exam. Acting on this information, the Special Task Force (STF) and Dehradun police laid a trap and apprehended the gang leader along with his accomplice. The mastermind, Hakam Singh, has previously served time in jail for similar fraud cases.

Following the arrest of the accused, Uttarakhand STF SSP Navneet Bhullar and Dehradun SSP Ajay Singh disclosed the case. They stated that the accused had demanded 12 to 15 lakh rupees from candidates by promising to help them pass the UKSSSC graduate-level exam. The accused had cleverly lured the candidates into their trap. “If the candidates were selected, they would pocket the money themselves. If the candidates failed the exam, they planned to deceive them by promising to adjust the money for the next exam.” The investigation into the entire matter reveals no breach of the integrity and confidentiality of the examination.

UKSSSC Graduate Level Examination to be held on September 21st: It should be noted that the Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission is conducting a written competitive examination for graduate-level positions in various departments on September 21st. Police were already on alert due to the potential for cheating mafias to be active in the examination. Dehradun Police and the Special Task Force (STF) are jointly monitoring suspicious individuals. Two days ago, police received confidential information that some individuals were planning a major fraud during the examination.

According to police, this gang was deceiving candidates by luring them with the promise of passing the examination and demanding large sums of money. Police laid a trap to apprehend this gang. Then, they learned that a candidate named Pankaj Gaur was in contact with Hakam Singh. Pankaj Gaur had spoken to other candidates and demanded 12 to 15 lakh rupees in exchange for helping them pass the examination.

Hakam Singh Rawat and Pankaj Gaur arrested from Patel Nagar area: Based on this, the police detained Hakam Singh Rawat, a resident of Uttarkashi, and Pankaj Gaur, a resident of Uttarkashi, from the Patel Nagar area. Inspector Mukesh Tyagi, in-charge of the Special Operations Group (SOG), has registered a case against them at the Patel Nagar police station under the Uttarakhand Competitive Examination (Prevention and Prevention of Unfair Means in Recruitment) Ordinance, 2023.
