Chamoli disaster: CM hands over five lakh rupees checks to families of deceased, airlifts 12 injured

Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inspected the disaster-hit areas of Nandanagar in Chamoli district on Saturday. While assessing the damage caused by the disaster, he also inquired about the well-being of the victims.

Assuring all possible assistance to the families affected by the disaster, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that the government stands fully with the affected families in this hour of crisis. While reviewing the relief work, Chief Minister Dhami directed officials to conduct a detailed assessment of the damage in the affected areas.

Relief amount given to the families of the deceased: Chief Minister Dhami also handed over checks of five lakh rupees each to the families of the deceased. Chief Minister Dhami conducted a field inspection of the disaster-affected villages of Kuntari Laga Phali and Kuntari Laga Sarpani, as well as an aerial survey of Dhurma, Mokh, Kundi, Bansbara, and Mokhmalla to assess the damage and relief efforts.

Assured the victims of assistance: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met with the victims and stated that the government fully supports the affected people in this hour of disaster. Relief and rescue operations are being carried out on a war footing in the affected areas.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami directed officials to continue working diligently to restore normal life and restore basic amenities. Prioritize the smooth supply of electricity and drinking water in the affected areas and restore road connectivity to all areas.

Chamoli District Magistrate Provided Information: During this meeting, District Magistrate of Chamoli Sandeep Tiwari provided information on the damage caused by the disaster, relief and rescue operations, and stated that relief and rescue operations are continuing in the disaster-affected areas. So far, 12 injured individuals have been referred to higher centers via helicopter, including one to AIIMS Rishikesh and 11 to Medical College Srinagar. Approximately 45 buildings in Kuntri Laga Phali, Sarpani, Dhurma, Sera, and Mokh have been completely damaged. Fifteen cow shelters have also been destroyed.

Eight animals have been reported dead and 40 missing in these areas. A detailed survey of the affected areas is underway. Affected people are being provided with food, shelter, healthcare, and other basic amenities.
