Haridwar: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami flagged off the sacred Chhadi Yatra from the Maya Devi Temple premises in the pilgrimage city of Haridwar, heading towards the four Dhams. Before sending off the sacred Chhadi, the Chief Minister consecrated the Chhadi and offered prayers to Mahamaya Devi at the Maya Devi Temple. He honored all the saints by garlanding them and receiving their blessings. After worshipping the Chhadi as per tradition, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami carried it on his shoulders and circumambulated the Maa Maya Devi Temple.

The Chief Minister described it as his privilege to participate in the sacred Chhadi Yatra, initiated by Adi Guru Shankaracharya. He said that the great work done by Adi Guru in spreading the message of Advaita Vedanta throughout India in the eighth century still connects us to our roots. He said that worshipping the sacred stick is not merely a religious ritual but a living testimony to the pervasiveness of our eternal culture.
