Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami formally launched the Self-Reliant India Campaign at the BJP state headquarters. On this occasion, he launched the campaign’s logo and slogan, “Swadeshi in Every Home, Swadeshi in Every Home,” and described it as the biggest means to build a developed India.
The Swadeshi Campaign is also being launched on a large scale in Uttarakhand. During the launch of the Sankalp Abhiyan under the Self-Reliant India campaign, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami described it as crucial for a developed India. CM Dhami said that Swadeshi is not just a slogan, but the foundation of a self-reliant and developed India.
It is a part of our eternal culture and way of life. He said that the Swadeshi campaign is a respect for our farmers, artisans, small traders, and entrepreneurs. It is not just a means of economic strength, but also a symbol of our love and dedication to our motherland.
Referring to the historical background of the program, he said that the Swadeshi movement infused new energy into the freedom struggle. Lokmanya Tilak, Maharishi Aurobindo, and Mahatma Gandhi made it the foundation of nation-building. CM Dhami said that today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has furthered this trend with campaigns like ‘Vocal for Local’ and ‘Make in India’.
From missiles to UPI, Swadeshi dominates: CM Dhami said that today, Swadeshi is not limited to Khadi and lamps. Rather, it extends to the BrahMos missile, Tejas aircraft, semiconductors, Digital India, and UPI. Vaccine and PPE kit manufacturing during the COVID-19 pandemic exemplifies India’s indigenous strength.
Referring to Uttarakhand’s contribution, he said that local products are being promoted through schemes like the ‘House of Himalayas’ umbrella brand and ‘One District, Two Products’. Cultivation of honey, mandua, jhangora, spices, and medicinal plants by farmers and cultivators is accelerating the journey towards a self-reliant India.
CM Dhami urged people to prioritize Swadeshi from festivals to weddings. Traders should also proudly declare that it is Swadeshi. This collective effort will help make India self-reliant and developed. He said that the time has come for all of us to embrace PM Modi’s mantra of “Make in India,” “Make for the World.”
