Dehradun: GST raid on firecracker traders; 28 lakh rupees in tax collected, goods worth 35 lakh rupees seized

Dehradun: A team from the State Tax Department raided five firecracker traders in Dehradun city and detected GST evasion. Goods worth 35 lakh rupees were seized in this operation, while the traders deposited 28 lakh rupees in taxes on the spot.

On the instructions of State Tax Commissioner Sonika, Additional Commissioner P.S. Dungriyal and Joint Commissioner Ajay Singh formed a team to take action against the firecracker traders. On Wednesday, the team raided five firecracker traders in Dehradun. The raid revealed that the traders had excess inventory, while the documents had shown less. After examining the documents, GST evasion of 63 lakh rupees was detected. The traders deposited 28 lakh rupees in taxes on the spot. The department team seized goods worth 35 lakh rupees from the traders’ stores. The investigation into the tax evasion is ongoing. Deputy Commissioner of State Tax Suresh Kumar and other officials were present at the raid.
