Rudraprayag: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the fourth Border Mountain Children’s Science Festival in Guptkashi on Wednesday. On this occasion, the Chief Minister announced that a Border Area Development Council will be formed in the state to expand facilities and services in border areas. The Chief Minister said that such innovation centers will now be established in border districts, where useful information and training related to disaster management, health, and education will be provided.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the state-level event, the Fourth Border Hill District Children’s Science Festival, organized by the Uttarakhand State Council for Science and Technology. On this occasion, he discussed topics such as climate change, natural water resources and conservation, disaster management, science and technology, and energy conservation with child scientists from various districts. The Chief Minister stated that this grand event will provide new direction and opportunities to talented child scientists from border districts.
The Chief Minister stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is scaling new heights in innovation, research, and self-reliance. The pace and direction of New India will depend on innovations in science and technology. Powered by new scientific technologies, India is now making its mark in various fields, including space. Dehradun is set to be the country’s fifth Science City, a significant achievement for a mountainous state like Uttarakhand. He stated that most services are being made available online to ensure transparent and effective services to the public. On this occasion, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami directed the District Magistrate to prepare a plan for the construction of a disaster management center in Rudraprayag district and announced a grant of ₹50 lakh for various works at the PM Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Bansu Jakhdhar. At the event, the Chief Minister honored Padma Shri Kalyan Singh Rawat, border entrepreneur Indra Singh Rawat, and Dr. Patni of the Border Service Foundation for their outstanding work in various fields. He also released the UCOST Rudraprayag Dashboard book. This GIS-based remote system dashboard will provide information related to various departmental schemes on a single platform.
The theme of the fourth Border Mountain District Children’s Science Festival is Climate Change Adaptation Strategies and Disaster Risk Management Integration. Its objective is to promote discussion on important issues such as climate change, natural water resources, and conservation, and to develop strategies for such adaptation.
