Dehradun: Following the persistent efforts and initiatives of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Ministry of Railways, Government of India, has approved the proposal to increase the frequency of the Dehradun-Tanakpur Express (train no. 15019/15020). A letter sent by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav to Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that the Dehradun-Tanakpur Weekly Express has now been approved to operate three days a week. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that this decision is an important and public-friendly gift for the people of Uttarakhand. Passengers from the Kumaon region will now have access to more convenient and regular rail service from Dehradun.
He stated that this decision will boost connectivity and tourism between Kumaon and Garhwal, as well as accelerate economic and social activities. Expressing gratitude to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, the Chief Minister said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Central Government is continuously supporting Uttarakhand to reach new heights of development.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said, “Heartfelt thanks to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav ji, who has accepted the demand of the people of Uttarakhand and approved the increase in the frequency of the Dehradun-Tanakpur Express.
This decision will prove extremely beneficial for the citizens, students, tourists, and businesses of the border Kumaon region. The state government strives to connect every region of Uttarakhand with better transportation facilities – this is our commitment towards a developed Uttarakhand.”
Chief Minister Dhami wrote a letter to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav a few months ago requesting an increase in the frequency of the Dehradun-Tanakpur Weekly Express. The Railway Ministry has considered this and decided to increase the train’s operation from weekly to tri-weekly (three days per week).
This step will provide better connectivity to the hilly and border areas of Uttarakhand with other parts of the country and will give new impetus to the tourism and trade of the state.
