Dehradun: A veterans’ conference was held in Haldwani today. CM Dhami attended the event. During the veterans’ conference, CM Dhami was presented with a picture of his father, which moved him to tears. He then paid tribute to all the brave soldiers.
At the beginning of the program, CM Dhami felicitated the veterans and their wives in his address. He also paid tribute to the martyrs, remembering their sacrifice. At the Haldwani Veterans’ Conference, CM Dhami said, “Since childhood, I have witnessed the discipline and dedication that the military uniform embodies. I have seen a martyr’s mother feel both pain and pride at the sacrifice of her brave son.”
CM Dhami said, “The martyrdom of a soldier is priceless. He sacrifices his life to protect the country.” CM Dhami said that the ex-gratia amount given to the families of martyrs has been increased from ₹10 lakh to ₹50 lakh. A provision of ₹10,000 has also been made to ensure a dignified funeral for the martyrs.
He said that a grand military shrine is being constructed in Guniyal village to perpetuate the memory of the martyrs in the state. During this, CM Dhami said that Jadung village, located on the China border in Uttarkashi district, will soon be bustling with tourists. It was evacuated during the 1962 India-China war.
The state government is celebrating the 25th anniversary of Uttarakhand’s independence as a silver jubilee. Various programs are being organized from Dehradun to other districts across the state. In Haldwani, a veterans’ conference was also organized at MBPG Inter College, which CM Dhami attended.
