Dehradun: On the occasion of the Uttarakhand State Foundation Day Silver Jubilee celebrations, District Magistrate Savin Bansal flagged off the Doon Marathon, organized under the aegis of the Dehradun District Administration. The 8-kilometer marathon began at Pavilion Ground, passing through Kanak Chowk, Esley Hall, Bahl Chowk, Dilaram Chowk, Brahmakamal Chowk, NIVH, and then back to Brahmakamal Chowk, Dilaram Chowk, and Kanak Chowk, concluding at Pavilion Ground. 700 participants participated in the marathon. District Magistrate Savin Bansal said, “Today we are witnessing a historic occasion. On this glorious occasion of the completion of 25 years of Uttarakhand’s State Foundation Day, this Doon Marathon is not just a sporting event, but a symbol of our collective resolve, unity, and an energetic Uttarakhand.” He said that the marathon gives us the message of determination, patience, and continuous progress. Just as continuous effort is essential to reach the goal in a marathon, the continuous efforts of every citizen are essential for the development of our state.

The District Magistrate stated that youth are the strength of our state, our hope. The future of our state lies in the speed of your steps. Through this race, you are spreading the message of “Healthy Uttarakhand – Strong Uttarakhand” to the entire society. He stated that this event is not just about winning, but about “sportsmanship, health, and unity.” Let us all pledge to contribute our full efforts to make our state clean, healthy, prosperous, and ideal.

In the women’s marathon category, Tanushree Chauhan came first, Gauri Rawat second, and Sudha Patel third. In the men’s category, Nitin Bhandari came first, Mukesh second, and Vipin third. District Tourism Development Officer Vijendra Pandey, District Sports Officer Ravindra Singh, District Youth Welfare Officer Pramod Pandey, along with representatives and participants from various organizations were present on the occasion.
