Rudrapur: Who is Uttarakhand Police SI Krishna Chandra Arya? Who will receive the Union Home Minister’s Efficiency Medal

Rudrapur: SI Krishna Chandra Arya, who played a key role in uncovering and investigating the murder of four members of the same family in Nainital, will be awarded the Union Home Minister’s Efficiency Medal.

SSP Manikant Mishra stated that on December 29, 2021, Nainital jeweler Ajay Rastogi alias Ankit Rastogi, along with Udit Rastogi, Asha Devi, and Sanno Devi, were murdered by slitting their throats. Following the murder of four members of the same family, the police launched an investigation. During the investigation, the then Nainital Police Station Officer, SI Krishna Chandra Arya, identified the accused through CCTV footage, technical evidence, and human intelligence. He also arrested the main accused, Ranu Rastogi, along with his associates, Vivek Verma, Mukesh Sharma alias Rahul, and Sachin Saxena.

Cash worth 35,000, the surgical blade used in the murder, blood-stained jeans, a car, and an iron rod were recovered from them. A charge sheet was later filed against all four. On May 20, 2025, the court sentenced all the accused to life imprisonment. This included life imprisonment and a fine of 20,000 under Section 302/34 of the IPC, seven years’ imprisonment and a fine of 20,000 under Section 394 of the IPC, and three years’ imprisonment and a fine of 10,000 under Section 201 of the IPC.

SI Krishna Chandra Arya played a key role in this entire case. In recognition of this, SI Krishna Chandra Arya will be awarded the Union Home Minister’s Efficiency Medal.
