Dehradun: Advocates have been protesting for a long time demanding the construction of chambers on the vacant land of the old district court in Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand. In this regard, officials of the organization, led by the President of the Sangharsh Samiti Bar Association and the President of the Dehradun Bar Association, met with Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami.
During the meeting, a delegation of advocates demanded the allocation of land allotted to advocates in the new district court complex and the land of the old district judge complex to advocates. They also submitted a memorandum demanding the government construct advocates’ chambers at both locations.
CM Dhami gave this assurance: In response to the lawyers’ memorandum, Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami assured the organization officials that the state government is making efforts to resolve their problems. He said that problems can only be resolved through mutual dialogue and discussion.
Everyone must be a partner in development: CM Dhami said that everyone must be a partner in the development of Uttarakhand. He himself has witnessed the statewide movement, and advocates have also contributed to it. Therefore, we all need to pay attention to the state’s financial resources.
A committee of the administration and advocates should be formed: The Chief Minister, while urging the advocates to end their protest, said that a committee of the administration and advocates should be formed to quickly resolve the issues. Efforts should be made to find a mutually acceptable solution by including an architect in this committee.
He said that the report presented by the District Magistrate and the points related to the resolution of the problems would be placed before the Cabinet and an appropriate decision would be taken. CM Dhami also assured the delegation that the state government would also provide financial assistance for the construction of advocates’ chambers.
Not only this, CM Dhami suggested the advocates to seek support from MPs and MLAs. He said that he would also take initiative in this regard. After the Chief Minister’s assurance, all the officials seemed satisfied and expressed their gratitude to the Chief Minister.
It should be noted that the advocates have been protesting for their demands for a long time. Their main demand is that they be given land for the construction of chambers in the old district court premises. Furthermore, land for the construction of chambers in the new court premises has already been allocated. However, the advocates have already held several rounds of talks with the Dehradun District Magistrate regarding these demands.
