Dehradun: Following the conclusion of the two-day Administrative Officers’ Conference held in Uttarakhand on Saturday, a meeting of Indian Administrative Service officers was held today under the chairmanship of CM Dhami. Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan and all IAS officers were present.
CM gives clear instructions to IAS officers: During the meeting, the Chief Minister welcomed the officers and said that this was not an occasion for a formal address, but rather an opportunity to share his sensitive and heartfelt feelings about the administration. He also clearly instructed IAS officers to ensure that files are not delayed and decisions are goal-driven.
Administrative officers should work with greater determination: CM: The CM said that Uttarakhand has faced many challenges in its 25-year journey. These achievements are due to the hard work, dedication, and foresight of the state’s administrative machinery. The Chief Minister said that all of you have demonstrated excellent leadership and sensitive administrative capabilities even under difficult circumstances. He also stated that this is the time to work with greater speed, greater perseverance, and greater resolve. Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s words, “This decade is the decade of Uttarakhand,” the CM said that it is the responsibility of the Uttarakhand administration to realize this resolve.
Work with Speed and Transparency: The CM stated that the coming five years will be decisive for Uttarakhand. We must take the state to a point where every citizen feels that the state is undergoing decisive and positive change. The Chief Minister clearly stated that the administration must work with speed and transparency. Every plan and decision must be goal-oriented and people-centric. The system must be such that files are processed on time. The impact of plans is immediately visible on the ground. Accountability must be ensured in every process.
CM Dhami reminded officers of the fundamental spirit of service: During the meeting, the Chief Minister reminded officers of their fundamental spirit, saying that they would not have chosen this service for money, position, or security, but rather with the spirit of doing something for the nation and society. Therefore, the decisions of IAS officers directly impact millions of people. Therefore, sensitivity, foresight, and factual thinking are crucial. Sometimes, public complaints tarnish the administration’s image. Red tape, complaints not being heard, and unnecessary file delays negatively impact the system. Therefore, officials must prioritize public trust.
CM says work is respected for life: CM Dhami said that in administrative history, there have been many officials like Surya Pratap Singh, TN Seshan, and Nripendra Mishra who left a lasting mark on society through their honesty, determination, and public service. Therefore, it’s important to note that while the prestige of a position lasts only for the duration of one’s tenure, respect for one’s work is lifelong. Therefore, officials should consider their position not just a job, but a sacred opportunity to serve society. The CM said that in today’s ‘New India,’ apathetic work ethic is not tolerated.
Advised officers to emphasize site inspections: The CM instructed officials to ensure that no work is unnecessarily delayed and that decisions are made swiftly and prudently. The benefits of all schemes should reach eligible individuals transparently and in a timely manner. He said that officials should ensure monthly reviews, continuous monitoring, and site inspections in their areas. The Chief Minister said that the state government is working to make Uttarakhand one of the leading states in the country with the mantra of “resolve without option.”
