Uttarakhand: Drafts of two policies for the AI ​​Mission 2025 released; policies tailored to the needs of the mountains

Dehradun: Artificial intelligence (AI) and data sharing will now be easier in Uttarakhand. The Governor launched the Information Technology Department’s AI Policy and Data Sharing Policy, the official website and logo of the AI ​​Mission. On this occasion, he stated that sustainable development cannot be envisioned without technological inclusion.

On Wednesday, in the auditorium of the Raj Bhavan, Governor Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh (retd) released the drafts of two policies for the Uttarakhand AI Mission 2025. He stated that technology plays a key role in the 21st century. No sector is untouched by technology today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the central and state governments have taken the initiative to embrace emerging technologies of the future. Uttarakhand also wants to realize the hopes, aspirations, and dreams of the people by adopting modern technology.

The Governor said that the modern AI policy will fulfill PM Modi’s vision of Uttarakhand being the leader in the third decade of the 21st century. There are also some challenges associated with current technology, such as the digital divide and issues related to health and ethics. He stated that research and development in this direction are leading to effective solutions to various problems. This will be an important step in achieving the goal of a developed India by 2047. Present at the event were Secretary to the Governor Ravinath Raman, Additional Secretary Reena Joshi, Director of ITDA, Additional Secretary Alok Kumar Pandey, Director General UCOST Prof. Durgesh Pant, Joint Director of Information Dr. Nitin Upadhyay, along with relevant officials, mentors from the tech industry and technical institutions, and students.

Policy tailored to the needs of the mountains

Secretary of Information Technology Nitesh Jha stated that this policy, while following the central government’s AI policy, has made provisions tailored to the unique geographical conditions of the mountains. He stated that Uttarakhand will become a national leader in responsible AI use, innovation, research, and skill development. The Tony Blair Institute for Global Change shared information on the topic “Global Developments in Artificial Intelligence and Their Impact on Uttarakhand.” Hackathon Udbhav Winners and Startups Receive Awards

For the first time, Hackathon Udbhav, organized by ITDA, was held at 25 educational institutions, with 846 students participating. The Governor awarded the top five institutions selected from this program: Hash Crew from THDC Institute, Digital Twin from IIT Roorkee, Unlock Aid from Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Institute, Carbon Edge from UPES, and Grid Sphere from Graphic Era University, with ₹50,000 each, medals, certificates, and tablets. Furthermore, the top five startups: Brigit, Bhumicam, Reviz Labs, i-Resonate, and Viji Infotech also received ₹50,000 each.
