CM Dhami stated that the Himalayas are not just a mountain range, but the lifeblood of the entire Indian subcontinent. The rivers, glaciers, and biodiversity here play a vital role in maintaining environmental balance. Climate change, uncontrolled development, and exploitation of natural resources are continuously affecting the balance of the Himalayas.

Changing weather patterns, increasing rainfall intensity, unexpected cloudbursts, and landslides in the high Himalayan regions have raised new concerns. To address these challenges, better coordination between scientists, policymakers, and field experts is essential. This World Disaster Management Conference will serve as a bridge in this direction.
