Dehradun: The Food Safety and Drug Administration Department will launch a special campaign to prevent food adulteration during Christmas and New Year. Food samples will be collected from hotels, restaurants, and sweet shops during this campaign.
On the instructions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Health Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, the FDA has decided to launch a special campaign across the state. Additional FDA Commissioner Tajbar Singh Jaggi said, “Keeping in mind the festive season, special monitoring will be carried out for adulteration in sweets, snacks, bakery products, confectionery, dairy products, and other food items, and samples will be sent for testing.”
Special teams led by food safety officers have been formed at the district level, which will inspect manufacturing units, wholesalers, and retailers. Citizens can also report adulteration on the departmental portal and toll-free number.

Commissioner and Health Secretary Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar stated that the department is fully vigilant regarding food safety during the festive season. Providing safe food to the general public is the government’s priority. All districts have been instructed to regularly inspect priority food items, and negligence at any level will not be tolerated.
