CM Dhami honors several women in Dehradun, here’s why

Dehradun: Women in Uttarakhand are organizing themselves and engaging in businesses across various sectors, providing employment opportunities for women and promoting local products. A program was organized to honor women who have excelled in startups, self-reliance, and other fields. On Saturday, the Manthon-2025: 5th National Leader’s Summit (Women’s Special) program was organized by the Business Uttarayani organization at the Chief Minister’s residence. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami honored several women at the event.

The Chief Minister said that this summit is being organized with the aim of encouraging women entrepreneurs. Women have advanced their families, society, and the state through their talent, hard work, and innovation. Women are also playing a significant role in the economic and social development of the state. The CM said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with the mantra of “Nari Tu Narayani” (Woman is Goddess), is continuously working with dedication for the welfare and empowerment of women.

The CM said that under the leadership of the Prime Minister, 33 percent reservation for women in Parliament and state assemblies, the Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao campaign, Ujjwala Yojana, Jan Dhan Yojana, Lakhpati Didi Yojana have been implemented, and evil practices like triple talaq have been abolished for women’s empowerment. He said that under the leadership of the Prime Minister, the women power of the new India is making its strong presence felt in every field.

CM Dhami said that women are making their mark in numerous fields such as industry, art, education, science, sports, research, and the armed forces. The state government is working dedicatedly for the welfare of women. Maximum participation of women is being ensured in areas such as education, health, entrepreneurship, and self-employment. The CM said that the state government has also worked to develop the products made by women’s groups as a brand under the Chief Minister’s Entrepreneurship Scheme. Incubation facilities are also being provided to more than 15,000 women entrepreneurs, self-help groups, and Lakhpati Didis. An umbrella brand named House of Himalayas has also been launched in the state. Under this initiative, high-quality products are being delivered to people through various e-commerce platforms and in-house stores.

In the state, approximately 70,000 self-help groups have been formed, through which about 500,000 women are organized and running their own businesses. Through more than 7,000 village organizations and over 500 cluster organizations, the women of the state are also setting a unique example of collective leadership. More than 168,000 women in the state have become “Lakhpati Didis” (women earning over one lakh rupees annually), creating a new history in the direction of women’s empowerment. Considering the work being done by the women of the state, the state government is working to develop a robust ecosystem for the processing, packaging, and sale of products in the state.

The Chief Minister said that the women of the state are also achieving remarkable success in the field of startups. Startups established by women are doing excellent work in diverse sectors such as traditional arts, agricultural products, education, digital technology, and more. He said that Uttarakhand has received the “Achievers” category in the Ease of Doing Business ranking. It has also received the “Leaders” category in the startup ranking. The Chief Minister said that 30 percent reservation has been implemented for women in government services in the state. The state has also taken the historic step of implementing the Uniform Civil Code for the safety and protection of women’s rights.
