Dehradun: The 6th meeting of the Steering Committee of the National Clean Air Program (NCAP) was held at the Secretariat on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan. During the meeting, the Chief Secretary reviewed the physical and financial progress of the air quality improvement programs of the Municipal Corporations of Dehradun, Rishikesh, and Kashipur and provided necessary guidance.
The Chief Secretary stated that all relevant departments and agencies need to work seriously to control air pollution. He also directed that the NCAP approved action plan and the timeline for each activity be submitted.
The Chief Secretary directed all relevant departments to prepare action plans addressing all the components of air pollution in their respective areas of work. Furthermore, to implement the approved action plan, city-level committees and the state-level committee should convene scheduled meetings to ensure compliance with the action plan.
The Chief Secretary stated that the Pollution Control Board, along with the Transport Department, Public Works Department, and Urban Development Department, all have important roles to play. He also called for regular awareness programs to be conducted to raise public awareness. He also directed the organization to organize tree-planting campaigns. He emphasized that along with taking measures to reduce pollution, it is also our responsibility to provide accurate information about environmental pollution. He directed that information on the city’s air pollution be displayed to the public through digital displays at various locations.
Secretary C. Ravishankar, Member Secretary UKPCB Dr. Parag Madhukar Dhakate, and MNA Municipal Corporation Dehradun Mrs. Namami Bansal, along with other senior officials from the relevant departments, were present on the occasion.
