Chief Secretary reviews funds allocated to approved proposals and the physical progress of work by the Disaster Management Department

Dehradun: A meeting of the State Executive Committee was held at the Secretariat on Thursday, chaired by Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan, to approve proposals received under the State Disaster Response Fund and the State Disaster Mitigation Fund. During the meeting, the Chief Secretary recommended various proposals submitted by the committee. The Chief Secretary said that the quality and physical progress of the works should be continuously reviewed.

The Chief Secretary also instructed the Disaster Management Department to review the funds allocated to the approved proposals and the physical progress of the work. He said that physical progress reports should be obtained from the departments in the MCR format. He instructed the Irrigation Department to activate the Planning Engineers Committee headed by the Head of Department. He said that proposals should be sent only after this committee has examined the technical and financial aspects.

The Chief Secretary instructed the Secretary of Disaster Management to include the ENC PWD as a permanent member in the State Executive Committee meeting. He also instructed that norms be established for flood protection works. He said that each project may have different requirements depending on the site conditions and nature of the work. He said that work should be carried out according to the situation and nature of each project, and vegetative protection work should be given priority wherever possible.

The Chief Secretary also instructed the Head of the Irrigation Department to prepare a proposal for the improvement and strengthening of canals by repairing various canal systems under Dehradun.

On this occasion, Principal Secretary R. Meenakshi Sundaram, Secretaries Dr. V. Shanmugam, Vinod Kumar Suman, Anand Swaroop, Additional Secretary Ranjana Rajguru, and other senior officers, including the District Magistrates of the concerned districts, were present via video conferencing.
