Ankita Murder Case: “The government’s eyes and ears are closed, but its mouth is open,” Godiyal responds to Subodh Uniyal

Dehradun: The government issued a statement on the Ankita Bhandari murder case, which made headlines after Urmila Sanawar’s video. Cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal held a press conference on the matter, presenting the government’s position. Congress State President Ganesh Godiyal also reacted to Minister Subodh Uniyal’s statement. Ganesh Godiyal made a significant comment, taking a dig at the government.

In fact, Cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal, addressing a press conference in Dehradun on the Ankita Bhandari murder case, stated that the government is not refusing any investigation if someone comes forward with valid evidence. “The government and police are continuously appealing to those who have raised this issue to come forward with valid evidence. The police will investigate it.”

Ganesh Godiyal responded to Cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal’s statement. He said that today the government has openly addressed the Ankita Bhandari murder case and held a press conference. In this press conference, the government has vehemently challenged anyone with evidence to present it to the investigating agencies.

Godiyal said that, in effect, the government has blindfolded itself and stuffed its ears with cotton. The government has closed its eyes and ears, but its mouth is open.

Is it a secret that in the Ankita Bhandari case, its MLA and Chief Minister are directly responsible for destroying evidence? If the investigating agency interrogates them, the evidence will emerge from them. Evidence will also emerge from the SIT that investigated the Ankita murder case. Does the government not know which officers and MLAs were responsible for destroying evidence at the resort? Therefore, the government should stop offering unnecessary explanations and have the CBI investigate this case under the supervision of a Supreme Court judge.

-Ganesh Godiyal, State President, Uttarakhand Congress-

Attacking the BJP government, Ganesh Godiyal said that speaking loudly does not prove that the truth is being told. The truth is that the government knows exactly who the alleged VIP is, and after the evidence has been destroyed, the government is deliberately challenging the government to present concrete evidence.

Understand the entire case: Ankita Bhandari, a 19-year-old resident of Pauri district, Uttarakhand, worked as a receptionist at the Vanantra Resort in the Yamkeshwar area. On September 18, 2022, Ankita Bhandari went missing under suspicious circumstances, and her body was found several days later in the Cheela Canal. Ankita Bhandari was murdered.

Vanantra Resort owner Pulkit Arya and two other employees, Saurabh Bhaskar and Ankit Gupta, were accused of murder. Pulkit Arya was accused of pressuring Ankita to provide “special services” at the resort, which Ankita refused. This led to a fight between Ankita and Pulkit Arya, and Pulkit Arya, along with two of his employees, Saurabh Bhaskar and Ankit, pushed Ankita into the Ganges, resulting in her death. The court found all three guilty and sentenced them to life imprisonment. Currently, all three are in jail. However, Pulkit Arya has filed a petition in the High Court challenging the lower court’s decision. This case is now in the news because Urmila Sanawar, who claims to be the wife of former BJP MLA Suresh Rathore, released a video in which she revealed the name of a VIP, who is said to be the same person to whom Pulkit had pressured Ankita to provide special services.
