CM Dhami meets Dr. Deepa Malik; Chief Minister directs preparation of action plan for Para Sports University proposal

Dehradun:  Dr. Deepa Malik, a renowned para-athlete and Padma Shri awardee, paid a courtesy visit to Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at the Chief Minister’s residence. On this occasion, Chief Minister Dhami honored Dr. Deepa Malik, appreciating her contributions and describing her remarkable work in the field of para-sports as inspiring for the country and society.

During the meeting, Dr. Deepa Malik requested the Chief Minister to establish a Para Sports University in Uttarakhand with the aim of providing better training, modern facilities, and a dedicated platform for para-athletes. She said that a hilly state like Uttarakhand has immense potential for talented para-athletes, and if they are provided with structured training and resources, they can excel at the national and international levels.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami adopted a positive approach to Dr. Deepa Malik’s proposal, calling it an important and far-sighted initiative. He said that the state government is committed to the all-round development of persons with disabilities and para-athletes. The Chief Minister directed Additional Secretary Ashish Chauhan to prepare a detailed action plan on this subject so that various aspects of the proposal can be studied and concrete action can be taken.

Present on the occasion were Jaywant Hammanawa, General Secretary of the Paralympic Committee of India, JP Singh, Chairperson of India Para Powerlifting, Shubham Chaudhary, Vice President of Para Raw Lifting, JC Jain, Chairman of Core University, and Paralympic powerlifters Paramjit Kumar, Ashok, and Kasturi.
