UCC to complete one year on January 27, Uttarakhand to celebrate ‘Uniform Civil Code Day’, CM says special programs will be organized

Dehradun. Uttarakhand’s historic initiative, the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), which is paving a new path for the country towards equal rights and uniform laws, will complete one year on January 27th. On this occasion, the state government is going to celebrate it not merely as a government event, but as a celebration of social consciousness and justice. For the first time, ‘Uniform Civil Code Day’ will be organized across the state on January 27th, with the state-level program being held in the capital, Dehradun. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami himself will lead this event.

The government’s intention regarding UCC Day is clear: to take this law out of the files and into society, and to demonstrate that Uttarakhand has created history by implementing the idea of equality on the ground. With this in mind, the program at the Culture Department’s auditorium in Nimbuwala will not be limited to mere stage formalities, but will ensure the active participation of the administration, the legal fraternity, educational institutions, and the youth. Chief Development Officer Abhinav Shah has taken charge of the preparations for UCC Day. On Tuesday, he held a virtual review meeting and instructed the nodal officers of all departments to ensure that there is no negligence at any level of the program. The CDO said that this event is linked to Uttarakhand’s identity, therefore the arrangements should be timely, well-organized, and dignified.

UCC Day will be a platform for honor and participation

The program will honor those officers, employees, and citizens who have played a significant role in the effective implementation of the UCC and in raising social awareness. In addition, a quiz competition will be organized on the spot to engage the youth, making the concept of UCC interesting and interactive. Through UCC Day, the Uttarakhand government will not only highlight its achievement but also give new impetus to the debate on uniform laws across the country. The government believes that this law is a strong foundation for social justice, women’s empowerment, and equality, and UCC Day will be a public demonstration of that commitment.

Participation from students to lawyers

The government is placing special emphasis on connecting UCC Day with the new generation. In this regard, students studying law at universities will be invited to the program. Discussions on the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) will be conducted in schools through essay writing, debate, and drawing competitions. The winning students will be given a platform at the state-level program. Furthermore, to highlight the role of the legal fraternity, the participation of key office-bearers of the Bar Council and local Bar Associations is also being ensured.

Thorough preparations from security to stage arrangements

The Public Works Department has been entrusted with the responsibility of the stage, sound system, LED screens, and the venue. The police and administration have been instructed to maintain strong security, traffic management, and parking arrangements. Special monitoring is also being done on basic facilities such as health, drinking water, electricity, and transportation.
