Dehradun: Preparations for the 2026 budget session are currently underway in Uttarakhand. Although the government has not yet announced the dates for the budget session, the location has been decided. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has clarified that the Uttarakhand budget session will be held at the Bhararisain Assembly building in Gairsain, the summer capital.
The cabinet had authorized Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami regarding the budget session. Therefore, the state government has decided to hold the upcoming assembly budget session at the Bhararisain Assembly building in Gairsain. Although the dates for the assembly budget session have not yet been announced, the location has been finalized.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that last year too, he had proposed holding the budget session in Gairsain, but at that time, maintenance work was underway inside the Bhararisain Assembly building, which made it impossible to hold the session there. The Assembly Speaker had also clarified the situation later. But this time, the government is prepared to hold the Uttarakhand budget session at the Bhararisain Assembly building.
In addition, Finance Secretary Dilip Jawalkar said that the Finance Department had informed all departments a month ago to submit their demands for the upcoming financial year 2026-27 online to the Finance Department. All departments have submitted the information on the Finance Department’s portal. The portal has now been closed. The information on the demands received from the departments has been reviewed. Budget-related discussions are being held with each department individually. These budget discussions with the departments are necessary to understand the priorities of each department and incorporate them into the budget.
He also said that the program of one-on-one budget discussions with the departments will continue for about a month. He also mentioned that the Union Budget is to be presented by the Government of India on February 1st. The budget presented by the Government of India is also important for the state. This is why the Union Budget is studied in the state before the start of the state assembly’s budget session. The state budget is then finalized based on this analysis. Once the budget is finalized, it will be presented to the cabinet.
