A foot march from Chaukhutia reached the capital, Dehradun, demanding improved health services. A delegation met with CM Dhami

Dehradun: Local residents in Chaukhutia, Uttarakhand, are continuously protesting for improved health services. In response, Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami met with a delegation of protesters. He promised to inspect the site and strengthen the health system, as well as consider all demands.

Prioritizing health services in the Chaukhutia region, CM Dhami has issued a government order to upgrade the hospital with immediate effect. As part of this, the capacity of Chaukhutia Hospital has been increased from 30 beds to 50 beds. It has also been decided to strengthen all essential health facilities in a phased manner.

Every public demand will be considered seriously: During the meeting, CM Dhami assured the delegation that every public demand will be considered seriously. He stated that the government is sensitive and is working to further strengthen health services in accordance with public aspirations.

CM Dhami to hold review meeting with Health Department: CM Dhami stated that he will personally hold a review meeting with the Health Department on this issue and will directly monitor progress. He stated that concrete steps are being taken to improve health facilities for the residents of Chaukhutia and surrounding areas. To this end, the Uttarakhand Agricultural Produce Marketing Council has been given the responsibility of operating the X-ray machine.

Special counter to be set up for Uttarakhand residents at AIIMS Rishikesh: Chief Minister Pushkar Dhami also stated that to provide better medical facilities to the general public, discussions will be immediately held to establish a special counter for Uttarakhand residents at AIIMS Rishikesh, so that the people of the state can receive quick and easy medical care.

Government working on a solid health policy: The CM stated that the government is working on a solid health policy to strengthen and modernize the state’s entire health system. The Chief Minister himself will soon inspect the Chaukhutia Community Health Center and review the arrangements. The state government is continuously working to improve health facilities in remote areas of the state.

Digital X-ray machine to be made available in Chaukhutia: Meanwhile, Chief Minister Dhami announced that the Community Health Center in Chaukhutia, Almora district, will be expanded from 30 beds to a 50-bed hospital. A state-of-the-art digital X-ray machine will also be provided in the hospital, ensuring better and faster healthcare for local residents.

Uttarakhand Agricultural Produce Marketing Council appointed as the implementing agency: CM Dhami stated that the government’s effort is to ensure that the people of the hills do not have to depend on big cities for better medical facilities. To this end, the Uttarakhand Agricultural Produce Marketing Council has been appointed as the implementing agency to ensure the construction of the sub-district hospital in Chaukhutia is completed within the stipulated time.

The expansion of Chaukhutia Hospital will provide health facilities to the people: Extensive steps are being taken to strengthen health services in the state. He stated that the expansion of this hospital will benefit thousands of people in Chaukhutia and surrounding areas, reducing delays in healthcare.

It should be noted that Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced the upgrade of the Chaukhutia Community Health Center to a 50-bed sub-district hospital. Following this, Uttarakhand Health Secretary R. Rajesh Kumar issued an order on October 16, 2025, stating that the Chaukhutia Community Health Center would be upgraded to a 50-bed sub-district hospital and that a digital X-ray machine would be provided.

Despite this order, local residents of Chaukhutia continued to protest for improved healthcare. Consequently, on November 3, the Uttarakhand Health Department appointed the Uttarakhand Agricultural Produce Marketing Council as the implementing agency for the Chaukhutia Sub-District Hospital.
