A long-term and comprehensive plan will be prepared for the revival of water sources and rivers, ACS Anand Bardhan gave instructions in the meeting of SARRA

Dehradun: Additional Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan held a meeting with various technical institutions associated with the Spring and River Rejuvenation Authority (SARRA) in the Secretariat on Monday. During the meeting, information was given about the work being done by the institutions at their respective levels.

The Additional Chief Secretary directed the Spring and River Rejuvenation Authority and all the institutions to share information and analysis. He said that (SARRA) is a good platform for this. All information should be made available on the dashboard being prepared by the authority. He said that a long-term and comprehensive plan should be prepared for the revival of water sources and rivers, and provision should also be made for its monitoring and maintenance. He said that there will be no shortage of any kind of funding for this.

The Additional Chief Secretary also directed to prepare a core team for working in each district. He also directed to ensure the participation of technical institutions in the core team of the districts. He said that it is impossible to make such schemes successful without public participation, so public participation must be ensured in the implementation of the schemes. Meetings and workshops should be organized with the local people. During the meeting, Indian Institute of Hydrology was given the responsibility of various types of mapping and analysis of Song and Nayar rivers and IIT Roorkee was given the responsibility of Shipra and Gauri rivers.

After the meeting, the Additional Chief Secretary directed to expedite the work of rejuvenation of Kosi river in Almora and prepare DPR by (SARRA). He said that before preparing the DPR, all the agencies should conduct a joint visit to Kosi and its catchment area.

Additional Chief Executive Officer (SARRA) Neena Grewal, Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology, Central Ground Water Board, Indian Institute of Hydrology, Roorkee, Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee and Govind Ballabh Pant National Himalayan Environment Institute and senior officials of Irrigation Department were present in the meeting.
