Dehradun: Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan reviewed the PM Shri and Lakhpati Didi schemes at the Secretariat on Friday. The Chief Secretary said that a scheme for school modernization, similar to the PM Shri scheme, should be implemented in Uttarakhand.
The Chief Secretary stated that under the PM Shri scheme, schools are provided with a sum of ₹40 lakh (a total of ₹2 crore) for five years, which helps provide smart classes, science labs, libraries, and sports facilities. He directed officials to implement a scheme in the state along the lines of the PM Shri scheme to provide modern facilities for children’s education. This will accelerate the availability of smart classes, science labs, and libraries in all government schools in the state. He called for a start in cluster schools.
Capacity development programs should be conducted for self-help groups.
The Chief Secretary also reviewed the Lakhpati Didi scheme. He stated that he has directed to conduct continuous capacity building programs to make the Lakhpati Didi Scheme more effective and to improve the quality of self-help groups’ products through the maximum use of technology. He also directed that the Lakhpati Didi Scheme be continuously monitored. He stated that a State-Level Steering Committee and a State-Level Monitoring Committee should be formed under the Lakhpati Didi Scheme soon and their meetings should be held regularly. He urged greater focus on providing markets to self-help group products, including e-commerce platforms and retail chains. He also called for the products to be included in the House of the Himalayas.
Principal Secretary R. Meenakshi Sundaram, Additional Secretaries Vijay Kumar Jogdande, Meherban Singh Bisht, and Jharna Kamthan, along with other senior officials, were present on the occasion.
