ACC Braces For Key Bureaucratic Appointments in Centre

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) is reportedly working to finalize over a dozen names for important Secretary and Additional Secretary-level positions. Sources indicate that a few candidates have already been shortlisted for Secretary-level roles.

Currently, four Secretary-level posts remain vacant in the Ministry of Culture, Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Department of Public Enterprises (DPE), and Department of Higher Education. Appointments for the DoPT and Higher Education positions may take additional time due to certain considerations.

At the Additional Secretary level, nearly ten crucial posts have been vacant for months. These include roles such as:

  • Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA),
  • Chairman of the Food Corporation of India (FCI),
  • CEO of Government e-Marketplace (GeM),
  • CEO of the National Health Authority (NHA),
  • Chairman of Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA),
  • Director General of the National Testing Agency (NTA),
  • Vice Chairman of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA),
  • Secretary of the North Eastern Council (NEC).

Some of these positions, including those in the NTA, JNPA, and NEC, have been vacant for several months, with more vacancies expected soon.

The upcoming appointments are also likely to include members of the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) and three positions in the Central Information Commission (CIC).
