Dehradun: Uttarakhand government has decided to relax the age limit of children in the new academic session starting from April 1. Actually, it is mandatory for children taking admission in class one to be 6 years old, but it has been seen that many children are not able to complete 6 years of age on April 1, due to which there were problems in their admission, in such a situation, Uttarakhand government has amended the Right to Free and Compulsory Child Education Rules 2011. Regarding which the Uttarakhand government has also issued a notification.
After the notification issued by the Uttarakhand government, now there will be no requirement of completing six years of age for admission of a child in class one in the state. That is, the child who completes six years of age by July 1 instead of April 1 in the new academic session will get admission in class one. Through this notification, children have been given three months relief.
After the amendment in the Uttarakhand Right to Free and Compulsory Child Education Rules, it has come into effect from the current academic session 2025-26. Till now, children taking admission in class one in schools were not able to take admission due to the compulsion of completing six years of age by the beginning of the academic session i.e. on April 1.
Among the children taking admission in nursery, LKG and UKG at the primary level, there was a large number of children who were not able to complete the age of six years on April 1, due to which it was decided to amend the Uttarakhand Right to Free and Compulsory Child Education Rules 2011. In this rule, instead of “month”, “commencement of academic session” was mentioned. After which, amending this rule, the date of “1st July” has been changed in place of “commencement of academic session”.
