Dehradun: An agreement has been reached with the European Investment Bank (EIB) on the projects proposed for Pithoragarh, Sitarganj, Rudrapur and Kashipur under the Uttarakhand Urban Area Development Agency. Project negotiation has been done for financing of about Rs 1910 crore. The European Investment Bank has agreed to finance these projects. Under the proposed amount, projects related to drinking water and sewerage in Pithoragarh as well as drinking water system in Sitarganj, Rudrapur and Kashipur are included. Whose DPR (Detail Project Report) has already been prepared.
Aparna Bhatia from the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Maximilian from the European Investment Bank and Secretary Chandresh Kumar from the Uttarakhand Government held a virtual conversation. The Department of Economic Affairs had reviewed all the DPRs and informed the European Investment Bank. In the meeting, the European Investment Bank has approved these projects. In the meeting, the European Investment Bank and the Department of Economic Affairs praised the UUSDA (Uttarakhand Urban Sector Development Agency) for the preparation and presentation of the project.
In such a situation, it was also decided that the project documents would be signed in June 2025 and the tender process would be started. At the same time, Program Director Chandresh Kumar said that the availability of drinking water and sanitation services is very important in a border town like Pithoragarh. These basic facilities improve the standard of living. Which gives impetus to the overall development of the state.
CM Dhami said that we are continuously working for the development of infrastructure facilities in the state. The proposed scheme will promote cleanliness along with the supply of pure drinking water in the urban areas benefiting from it.
