Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today held a review meeting with the district administration, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) officials and police administration of three border districts of the state—Champawat, Pithoragarh and Udham Singh Nagar—through video conferencing from the Chief Minister’s residence, keeping in mind the political situation that has arisen in the recent days in the neighboring country Nepal. In the meeting, the entire situation regarding security on the international borders of Uttarakhand bordering Nepal was reviewed.
The Chief Minister directed the officials to conduct intensive checking campaigns on the borders with Nepal and keep special vigil on the activities of any anti-social or mischievous element there. He said that social media should also be monitored continuously so that action can be taken in time on any kind of rumor, misleading information or provocative content. He directed the district administration to work in constant contact and coordination with central security agencies and SSB. The surveillance system should be strengthened with collective participation of villagers living in border areas, local village committees, police force and forest department officials.
The Chief Minister also said that the entry routes along the borders should be regularly monitored and special vigilance should be exercised on cross-border movement. He directed to ensure strict compliance of the security guidelines issued by the Government of India, and also ordered deployment of additional security forces as per requirement.
In the meeting, various aspects of security challenges of border areas, community participation, strengthening of intelligence information system, and coordination with central agencies were discussed in detail.
The Chief Secretary of the State, Director General of Police, Principal Secretary (Home), ADG Law and Order, ADG Intelligence, Kumaon Divisional Commissioner, Inspector General of Police of Kumaon region, and District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police of Champawat, Pithoragarh and Udham Singh Nagar districts and officers of Sashastra Seema Bal were also present in this high-level meeting.
