Dehradun: A high-level delegation led by Saurabh Tiwari, Director and Head of Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Dehradun branch, made a courtesy call on Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at the Chief Minister’s residence. This delegation included representatives from the education sector, industry and consumer organizations.
The delegation of Bureau of Indian Standards discussed various aspects related to standardization in the state with Chief Minister Dhami. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami directed that mandatory inclusion of Indian Standards (IS) should be ensured in the government procurement process. He directed to organize training programs for departmental officers. The Chief Minister has given instructions to adopt IS based regulations (SP 73:2023) in building construction and effective implementation of management system standards (such as IS 15700, ISO 9001, ISO 21001) in various government departments.
Chief Minister Dhami assured the delegation that necessary guidelines would be issued to the concerned departments to provide a strong base to standardization in Uttarakhand. The Chief Minister said that standardization is very important for quality services and development and this initiative will prove to be an important step towards ‘Developed Uttarakhand’. Additional Secretary to Chief Minister Banshidhar Tiwari, officials of Bureau of Indian Standards were present in the meeting.
