Dehradun: By-elections will be held on November 20th for all vacant posts in the three-tier Panchayats in the state, except for Haridwar district. The notification for the by-elections was issued on Tuesday. There are 33,114 vacant Gram Panchayat posts in the state. After the by-elections, 4,843 Gram Panchayats will be formed.
According to the State Election Commission, nomination papers for Gram Panchayat members, Gram Pradhans, and Kshetra Panchayat candidates will be available from November 11th to 13th at the respective block headquarters, and for District Panchayat members at the district headquarters.
According to State Election Commissioner Sushil Kumar, nomination papers will be submitted on November 13th and 14th. Nomination papers for Gram Panchayat members, Gram Pradhans, and Kshetra Panchayat members will be submitted at the block headquarters, and for District Panchayat members at the district headquarters. He stated that voting for vacant posts in the three-tier Panchayats will be held on November 20th from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
There are so many vacant positions in the three-tier Panchayats.
In the state’s three-tier Panchayats, 33,114 Gram Panchayat member positions, 22 Gram Pradhan positions, one District Panchayat member position, and two Kshetra Panchayat member positions are vacant. Elections are scheduled for these vacant positions.
State Election Commissioner Issues Instructions for Election Preparations
State Election Commissioner Sushil Kumar issued instructions regarding election preparations in a virtual meeting with Chief Development Officers and District Panchayat Raj Officers. He urged people to be informed about election nominations. He also urged all preparations for polling parties to be completed in a timely manner.
