Dehradun: Preparations for Uttarakhand Chardham Yatra are going on in full swing. The Uttarakhand government is trying to make the journey of the devotees coming on the Chardham Yatra safe, smooth and well-organized. Due to which Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed all the departmental officers to complete all the arrangements a week before the start of the Chardham Yatra. In fact, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami held a traffic management meeting regarding the preparations for the Chardham Yatra in the Secretariat on Tuesday. During the meeting, the CM directed that parking arrangements should be made on the travel routes at such places near which hotels, dharamshalas, homestays and other basic facilities are available.
CM Dhami said that the slot management system should be improved further for the darshan of the Dhams. Along with making adequate arrangements of CCTV cameras at sensitive places on the travel routes, real time monitoring of areas with high traffic should be done. The CM said that to face the challenges of traffic management during the Chardham Yatra, the police should prepare a better plan and work. So that the problems that came up last year do not happen during the upcoming Chardham Yatra. Real time information about places with jams should be shared with the public through social media and other means. Along with this, traffic and weather updates should be given on the social media profiles of the police and administration.
60 percent online and 40 percent offline registration
Arrangements should be made so that devotees can get information about parking places on the travel routes from Google Maps. The CM appealed to the devotees to come on the Chardham Yatra only after registering. Registration has been arranged for the safety and convenience of the devotees. 60 percent online and 40 percent offline registration has been arranged for the Yatra. Apart from this, for better conduct of the Yatra, work should be done in coordination with all the stakeholders related to the travel routes and their suggestions should be taken seriously. Information about the preparations made by the government for the Chardham Yatra should also be shared with the stakeholders. Police help desk established
During the meeting, the CM instructed the officials to improve the alternative routes of Chardham Yatra. Local people should also be contacted on payment basis to develop temporary parking on the travel routes. Police help desk should be established on the travel route in view of the convenience of the devotees. Surveillance should be done with the help of drone cameras in disaster prone areas and high altitude areas on the travel routes and adequate arrangements of necessary equipment should be made at disaster sensitive places. Crash barriers should be installed on the travel routes as per requirement. Intensive checking campaign of vehicles should be conducted by the police and transport department and special attention should be paid to the fitness of vehicles. Adequate arrangements of signage should be made for all the information on the travel routes.
Three plans ready for traffic
During the meeting, DGP Deepam Seth said that last year about 48 lakh devotees had performed the Yatra. There will be 50 police stations, 79 reporting police posts, 5850 police force, 38 seasonal (temporary) posts for safe and systematic travel this year. For better traffic management, three plans have been prepared which will be implemented in view of the pressure of vehicles and traffic jams. Chardham Control Room has been established under Inspector General of Police, Garhwal Range. In-charge of which will be SP Traffic Dehradun Lokjeet Singh. Chardham Cell will be formed at the Police Headquarters level under Inspector General of Police Crime and Law and Order, which will make arrangements for continuous control and monitoring. The entire Yatra route has been divided into 15 super zones, 41 zones and 137 sectors. Along with Chardham Yatra, a detailed traffic plan has also been prepared for the long weekend.
