Chamoli: District Magistrate Sandeep Tiwari of Chamoli district in Uttarakhand got himself registered under UCC (Uniform Civil Code Uttarakhand). District Magistrate Sandeep Tiwari got married in Gopeshwar on 28 May. So far 12391 couples including District Magistrate Sandeep Tiwari have registered their marriage under UCC in Chamoli district.
District Magistrate Sandeep Tiwari said that under the Uniform Civil Code implemented by the state government, it is mandatory for couples who got married after the year 2010 to get registered in UCC. There is also a provision to punish couples who do not get registered in UCC within the stipulated time. He has appealed to the couples who got married after the year 2010 to get their marriage registered soon.
Let us tell you that Chamoli District Magistrate Sandeep Tiwari had a court marriage with Dr. Pooja Dalakoti, a resident of Lalkuan in Nainital district, on 28 April. After the marriage, both of them reached Gopeshwar temple, where both of them took blessings of God. The marriage of DM Sandeep Tiwari and Dr. Pooja Dalakoti was much talked about in Uttarakhand. Chamoli District Magistrate Sandeep Tiwari is a 2017 batch IAS officer. Sandeep Tiwari got Uttarakhand cadre, he is originally a resident of Himachal Pradesh Shimla.
It is worth noting that till date 12391 couples’ marriages have been registered under UCC in Chamoli, while 521 applications have been rejected due to various reasons. Also, 22 applications have been received for divorce in the district, out of which 19 applications have been registered and 9 applications have been rejected.
