Dehradun: With the approval of deployment of PG doctors for the first time in Chardham Yatra, pilgrims will get better security cover. After the announcement of the National Medical Commission (NMC), PG doctors from medical colleges across the country are contacting to provide health services in the Yatra.
MD, MS and DNB PG doctors will be able to obtain District Residency Program (DRP) certificate by serving in Chardham Yatra. NMC has clarified that the services given during the Yatra will be valid under Clinical Rotation or DRP. Doctors will not have to undergo a separate three-month training for this.
Pilgrims will get specialist services
The state government had sought permission from NMC for voluntary deployment of PG doctors to provide better health services to pilgrims during the Chardham Yatra. After the approval of NMC, now there is a positive response from doctors doing PG from medical colleges across the country to provide services during the Yatra.
Health Secretary Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar said, the decision to deploy PG doctors during the Yatra will provide specialist services to pilgrims. Apart from this, trainee doctors will also get practical experience of dealing with high Himalayan medical and emergency situations.
