Chief Minister flagged off the third mountaineering expedition ‘Shaurya’ of NDRF

Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday participated in the flag off program of the third mountaineering expedition ‘Shaurya’ organized by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) at the Chief Sevak Sadan Dehradun, located at the Chief Minister’s residence.

The government is determined to establish the possibilities of adventure tourism at the international level

The Chief Minister expressed happiness and congratulated the NDRF personnel on going to the third mountaineering expedition. He said that our jawans will definitely be successful in this expedition and will also guide other mountaineers coming on this track. The Chief Minister said that the state government is working to establish the immense possibilities of adventure tourism in the state at the international level. He said that adventure activities and sports are being promoted in various fields.

NDRF personnel are an inspiration for the youth

The Chief Minister said that the state government is encouraging many adventure activities like angling, cycling, rafting, trekking, paragliding in the state. Every year many competitions like Tehri Water Sports, Nayar Mahotsav are being organized in the state. The Chief Minister said that the NDRF jawans are expanding their skills by participating in adventure activities along with providing their services in disaster management and are becoming a source of inspiration for the youth. He said that in every disaster that comes in the state, the NDRF jawans remain at ground zero.

Many works are being done towards strengthening disaster management in the state

The Chief Minister said that the state government is continuously working to strengthen disaster management. Disaster management is being linked with necessary resources, state-of-the-art equipment and latest technology. Training centers are also being established to make the jawans modern and technically proficient. An agreement has been signed between SDRF and Pune’s Indian Rescue Academy. With the cooperation of the Central Government, the state government has approved the Uttarakhand Disaster Preparedness and Resilient Project Scheme. Under which an amount of about Rs 1480 crore has been approved to strengthen the disaster management system.

The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had himself flagged off the participants of many adventure sports during his visit to Mukhwa to promote adventure tourism in the state. With the guidance and cooperation of the Prime Minister, the state government is working to establish the state as a major center of adventure sports and eco-tourism. He said that in October 2022, the Prime Minister had described all the border villages of the country from Mana village as the first village of the country.

DG NDRF Piyush Anand said that this trekking campaign will also prove helpful for rescue in the high Himalayan areas. This will enable our soldiers to carry out rescue operations in the high Himalayan areas. He said that whenever the state needs NDRF, we are always ready. He said that the time of response is also being reduced. In this expedition, a team of 44 members is going to conquer the 6,832 meter high ‘Kedar Domsh’ peak via Dehradun, Uttarkashi, Gangotri, Chirbasa, Bhojwasa, Tapovan and Kirti Glacier. This challenging track has inaccessible mountain paths and glaciers.

Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan, DGP Deepam Seth, Disaster Management Advisory Committee Vice President Vinay Rohela, Secretary Vinod Suman were present on this occasion.
